San Diego Town Homes

Town homes and condominium town homes are increasingly becoming the craze in San Diego, California's second largest city. A town home is a home that shares a building with other units. These homes are otherwise referred to as row homes. In the San Diego condominium town home, the purchaser owns only the interior, while the building itself is owned by a condominium corporation. The corporation is jointly owned by all the owners. In the Freehold arrangement, the town homes exclusively owned, without any condominium aspects.

As real estate continues to grow, San Diego's town homes are becoming increasingly popular. These homes are coming up in different locations all over the county including the city's neighborhoods and communities such as Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, Coronado, La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Escondido, La Mesa, Hillcrest, Barrio Logan and  Chula Vista.

San Diego town homes are available in a variety of designs these days. Prospective buyers are given a choice of several floor plans.  Most San Diego town home developers will also allow buyers to decide floor and cabinet tiles, position of fire place and color of the exterior and interior walls.

The advantages of San Diego town homes are that they less expensive then single family homes. These homes also most often come with a small fence yard. Probably the biggest advantage of San Diego town homes is that they are low maintenance. Expenses for repair and replacement are usually covered by developer of the San Diego town home community. Some of the San Diego town home complexes offer a variety of amenities such as twenty four hour security, swimming pool, club house and exercise facilities.

The disadvantage of San Diego town homes are that since a portion of the homes are shared, noise through the walls could pose a problem. Some town homes also have common staircases, which again can be a disadvantage as it takes away from the feeling of individual homes.

However, given that price of real estate in San Diego continues to remain very high, buying a town home is not a bad idea. The cost of a town home in San Diego is considerably less then an individual home. This is true even for San Diego town home projects located close to the coastline.
